After discovering a letter written by her mother shortly before her death, Anna Crawford, a London-based nurse, decides to travel to the Italian island of Capri in search of her father. What she doesn’t expect to find is that she’s heir to a vast family fortune. She’s even more surprised when the suspicious trust attorney questions her very identity.

Rafael Vialli has a suspicious nature – it’s the reason he became a lawyer. He blames his rough childhood. It may also have something to do with the fact that in the months since Giovanni Albertosi’s death, he’s been inundated with opportunistic women claiming to be his client’s missing heir.

Can Anna prove to Rafael that she really is the legitimate heir? And can Rafael trust enough to award her the inheritance… as well as his heart?

This was a short entertaining story. Both characters are very personable and likable. Anna is a compassionate, beautiful but humble lady. After her mother's death she finds a letter written to a man who appears to be her real father. She goes to Italy on a whim in search of him. She encounters his attorney and adopted son Rafael, who believes Anna is another gold digger after his adopted father's fortune. Rafael's opinion of Anna changes soon b/c Anna appears to be a sincere person (not to mention his attraction to her). Events keep Anna and Rafael in close proximity allowing them to get close. Anna knows that Rafael doesn't believe in love but she plunges into an affair with him anyway. Rafael does come to realize his love for Anna in the end but there's nothing special or romantic when he declares himself to her. A more dramatic ending would have made it better.

The Italian Inheritance edition by Louise RoseInnes Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Other readers will probably like this better than I did, as I am not enthusiastic about modern heroines and predictable sex scenes. The author has talent. I hope she continues to write.
This is a harmless and ultimately disappointing romance. The only redeeming plot twist is that the heroine is not the missing heir. Sorry if that is a spoiler, but it does not come as a surprise when it is revealed in the book. It is predictable and equates "hot" sex with love. This novel illustrated to me why I prefer my romances to be historical rather than contemporary. I did finish it so I can give it a very lukewarm recommendation--if you have a spare afternoon and don't want to get involved in anything time consuming, you might want to spend it reading this easy romance.
I fell in love with this book. I didn't put it done until I finished it. The author is a excellent story teller. She did an excellent job with character development and story flow. You won't be disappointed!
This was a very charming romance. The scenes were hot, the romance built up nicely, and the story had a few twists that pulled it together into a wonderful package. I would read more from this author.
A story about a girl who goes to italy to find her father and finds his godson instead. He of course uses her to get what he wants when he notices that his rival is attracted to her. He promises to help prove her legitimacy because her father is dead in exchange for her help. It was an okay read but not really gripping.
Orphaned at an early age, Anna Crawford rushed to Italy when she found a clue from her late mother's belongings that her father might still be alive. But, instead of finding her father, Anna found Rafael Vialli, the lawyer who has to vet her even before her father could recognize her as his daughter.

The premise is sweet, even endearing. And the sparks that flew between Anna and Rafael could keep your interest. But, I had to take away two stars from my rating because of so many grammatical errors and inconsistencies. And my pet peeve - the use of DOLLARS for currency. Anna is supposed to be British, Rafael is Italian and the story happened in Italy. In deference to Anna, the British pound could have been used, and in deference to Rafael and Italy, the EURO could have been used. And if this was pre-EU, then the LIRA. Everytime I see the world DOLLARS, it just grated, hence taking away from my enjoyment of the book.

And as some other reviewers had mentioned Vesper which I presume is for Vespa, the scooter. And the use of Senor, instead of Signore.

This book is rated PG 13 due to some mild sex scenes.
I really liked this story. It started off with a big secret and I had trouble putting it down. A young woman believes her father is an Italian businessman, she discovers this after 25 years since her birth. She goes to Capri to see him and get the whole story. She meets a young lawyer and the sparks fly. It does hold your attention to the very end and it is hard to stop reading even to eat!! I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. I have been to Capri and the surroundikng area, including Naples, so it was like going back. A good read.
