OK this story started off very good. Victoria Smith is an excellent writer but the story was extremely slow, over descriptive and finally boring. I really tried to stick with it but I just wanted to get to the end. I am glad to say the book had very little to zero editing errors which is a big problem with some books. I enjoyed the story of Alexander and Johari's story. It was interesting how they met,that was cute and funny. This was a good book. I would definitely recommend reading about this couple I think you will enjoy it. I am ready for Baby Be Mine. Good job Victoria,thank you.👍
I loved this book, I started it & couldn't put it down. The one thought I had being a women of color from the Midwest myself, why would Jahari trust Naomi especially after learning of the relationship between her & Alexander? I loved Alexander & Jahari together. I loved the fact that they had to work at their relationship, it wasn't a love at first sight, we'll be together forever with no problems to speak of type of story. I also love that the story took place in the Windy City.
This book was a series of misunderstanding filled with a lot of unnecessary angst... And if that wasn't bad enough add huge helping of long drawn out inner monologue. I would return if I could..
The book was amazing! First off, I could relate to the H so much. The trials and tribulations that H went through really had me rooting for him and I was definitely in my feelings. This book made me realize that everyone and everything has different timing. What you may not want now, you'll maybe want five years down the line. I also loved the fact that they eased into the romance. There's nothing I hate more than a story that starts off immediately with implausible romance. I loved the strength that his family gave him and really just wanted to give him a hug. The h was okay to me. I liked her, but didn't love her. I'm glad they had a happy ending.
Loved the book and I was immediately drawn into the story and characters. Oh how imagined Alexander going through such an ordeal, so young, it broke my heart. I loved Johari, she started of strong-willed but she had her flaws. I would have love to have the drawn out more so that it wasn't rushed because I really want to read more of the characters. I forsee a sequel maybe??? Thanks Ms Smith for a beautiful read, though it was a sad topic we had our HEA.
This book was okay. I enjoyed the different aspect of the book and the story line was different in that you show that the these are the world of happy ever after isn't always guarantee. My biggest issue with the book is Victoria introduces issues and they miraculously resolve themselves later in the book without us knowing how it was resolved.
But overall, it was a nice quick read once you start it. I received an ARC copy and I did purchase the book once I complete reading my ARC copy.
I am hardly ever disappointed after reading this authors work. A mistaken identity at a vulnerable time for one of them turns into a wonderful circumstance. Johari (loved this name) is as unselfish as they come her willing to be a surrogate for a couple of which one suffered from cancer? Yes, she would handsomely benefit but for an absolute great cause, pay her medical school debt, a borrowed debt AND help her Momma! Priceless. Enter Alex, coincidentally given a clean bill of health from yup you guessed it cancer, sitting in a cafe minding his own business and along comes the woman who plants a seed which turns his whole perspective on life upside down. I absolutely loved this story. Only thing I could have done without was the jealous ex Naomi. What a wicked woman. I highly recommend this book.
